Did you know-- &lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;Each year, &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;390,000&lt;/span&gt; Americans &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;die &lt;/span&gt;from the effects of smoking. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Cigarette smokers have more than &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;twice&lt;/span&gt; the risk of &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;heart attack&lt;/span&gt;. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Cigarette smokers have &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;two to four times&lt;/span&gt; the chance of &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;cardiac arrest&lt;/span&gt;. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Giving up smoking rapidly reduces the risk of heart disease. After a number of years, the risk of heart disease diminishes to the same level as a person who has never smoked. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;A pregnant woman who smokes increases her baby's chances of infant crib death. &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt;  &lt;p&gt;If you smoke, quit. And if you don't smoke, don't start. And remember, avoid long-term exposure to smoke and protect children from it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Many countries are now passing anti-smoking laws. I had been a smoker for 20 years until I quit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The reason why? Simple. I had to quit because the doctor told me if I carried on the way I was going, I would not live to see my kids grow.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Their first words, teaching them how to ride a bike, their first day at school. That's what I would have missed if I did not quit smoking that instant.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That was 5 years ago, I now live a happy and fulfilled life, playing with my kids and no worries about premature death. My wife is much happier now too. (She always hated the smell of smoke and she loves the money that I spend on her instead of cigarettes!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know how you smokers feel. You just can't quit.
